How to play Neon Word Ladder
Neon Word Ladder is a word-climbing puzzle with four themed ladders. You start with one word and must reach the goal word by changing exactly one letter per rung — and every intermediate rung has to be a genuine English word from the game's 231-word dictionary. Type a candidate rung with your keyboard or the glowing on-screen keys, then hit Climb (or Enter) to lock it in. Each ladder has a par, the shortest possible route; finishing at or under par earns full points, while extra rungs and used hints shave points off. Clear all four ladders to become Ladder Master.
Controls
- A–Z keys / on-screen keyboard: Type your next rung.
- Backspace: Delete the last typed letter.
- Enter / Climb: Submit the rung.
- Hint: Reveals one optimal next rung (−30 points).
- Restart: Reset the current ladder.
Tips
- Think backwards too: start from the goal word and meet yourself in the middle.
- Vowels are the hinges — most ladders pivot on swapping one vowel for another.
- Stuck on a rung? Change the first or last letter; those unlock the most options.
- A hint costs 30 points but an extra wrong rung costs 25 — sometimes the hint is cheaper.
