How to play Neon Battleship

Neon Battleship is the classic naval duel, rebuilt with a glowing cyber twist. You and the CPU each command a hidden fleet of 4 ships on an 8×8 grid: one battleship (4 cells), two cruisers (3 cells each) and one destroyer (2 cells). Both fleets are deployed automatically at the start of every battle, so there is no setup — you go straight into combat. Click any cell in the Enemy Waters grid to fire a salvo. A fiery explosion means a hit, a soft ripple means a miss. Land enough hits on one vessel and it sinks with a red neon flare. Sink all four enemy ships before the CPU sinks yours, and the ocean is yours.

Controls

On desktop and mobile, simply click or tap a cell in the Enemy Waters grid to fire — you and the CPU alternate shots. Keyboard players can use the arrow keys to move the yellow targeting cursor across the enemy grid and press Enter (or Space) to fire. Press R at any time to restart the battle, and the ▶ Play / ↻ Play Again button starts a fresh engagement with newly randomized fleets.

Tips & strategy

Random guessing is slow — hunt like a strategist. Because the smallest ship is 2 cells long, firing in a checkerboard pattern guarantees you will eventually touch every ship while wasting the fewest shots. The moment you score a hit, probe the four orthogonally adjacent cells: a second hit reveals the ship's direction, so finish it along that line. Remember the CPU plays the same game — it hunts randomly, then locks onto your ships after a hit, so there is no safe hiding spot. Keep your salvos steady and count your misses; a tight spread beats a lucky streak.

Scoring

Every battle tracks your shots fired, hits and accuracy, shown live in the HUD and on the victory screen. Sinking the whole fleet with fewer shots means a higher accuracy — the true mark of a sharp commander. There is no timer, so take a breath and aim each salvo deliberately; precision beats speed on this neon ocean.
