How to play Brick Breaker

Brick Breaker is the classic paddle-and-ball arcade duel in a neon arena. A glowing ball bounces around the top of the screen and your only tool is the paddle at the bottom: slide it into the ball's path to send it back up into the brick wall. Five rows of neon bricks guard the top — every brick you smash scores 10 points, and clearing the whole wall advances you to the next level. Beat all 5 levels to win the game.

Controls

Move the paddle with the ← and → arrow keys or A / D, or simply slide your mouse or finger across the playfield — the paddle follows. Click ▶ Start Game to serve the ball and ↺ Restart to start a fresh run at any time.

Tips & strategy

The ball jumps to a new speed tier every level, so give yourself room: keep the paddle near the center and react late rather than chasing. Where the ball strikes the paddle steers it — hit with the edge to send it at a sharp angle into hard-to-reach corners. Clear the top rows early so the ball has space to ricochet downward through the pack. Higher levels shrink your paddle, so prioritize a steady rhythm over risky saves: one saved ball is worth more than any brick. The level-clear bonus of 50 points rewards a clean wall — don't waste lives hunting the last brick.

Scoring

Each smashed brick scores 10 points, multiplied by the current level (level 3 bricks are worth 30). Clearing a level adds a 50-point bonus. Lose a life when the ball slips past your paddle; lose all 3 and the run ends. Your highest run is saved in your browser as your best score.
