Neon Mastermind

A secret code of 4 neon pegs hides above. You have 10 guesses to crack it. Black feedback = right color, right slot. White feedback = right color, wrong slot.

Click a color (or press 1–6), then click a slot — arrows + Enter work too. Submit gives black = right color right spot, white = right color wrong spot.

How to play Neon Mastermind

Neon Mastermind is the classic code-breaking duel, rebuilt in glow. The computer hides a secret code of four pegs drawn from six neon colors — and colors may repeat, so never rule out doubles. You get ten guesses. Build one by picking a color and placing it in the glowing slots of the active row, then hit Submit. Each guess earns feedback pegs: black means a color is exactly right in exactly the right slot; white means the color is in the code but sitting in the wrong slot. Feedback pegs are sorted, so they never reveal which peg earned them — deducing positions is the whole puzzle.

Controls

Click a color, then click a slot to place it; clicking a filled slot clears it again. On keyboard, press 1–6 to pick a color, use the arrows to move between slots, Enter to place the color (or submit a full row), and Backspace to clear a slot. Submit Guess locks in a complete row, Clear empties it, and Restart deals a fresh secret code at any time.

Tips & strategy

Open with four different colors to learn which colors appear at all. A black peg locks a position — never move it again. Test white-peg colors by swapping them between slots and watching what changes. If a color earns nothing across two guesses, drop it for good. Late guesses should test a hypothesis, not take a stab — elimination wins endgames.

Scoring

Your score is the number of guesses used — fewer is better, and a first-row crack is a perfect game. Your session best (fewest attempts) shows above the board. Miss all ten rows and the code is revealed; study it, then start a new game and beat your best.
