How to play Neon Cryptogram
A cryptogram swaps every letter of a message for a different one — consistently, so each cipher letter always hides the same real letter. Here a famous quote is encoded with a fresh random substitution. Click a cipher letter to select it, then click a letter on the on-screen keyboard (or type A–Z) to guess it. Every occurrence updates at once, so one good guess can light up the board. Decode every letter to reveal the quote and its author.
Controls
Click or tap a cipher letter, then click a keyboard letter below the quote or type it. Backspace clears the selected guess, the arrow keys move your selection, and 💡 Hint reveals one correct letter for 50 points. ⌫ Clear letter wipes the selected guess and 🔄 Reset all restarts the mapping. Press ▶ Play to begin, and 🔁 New Quote after every win.
Hints, mistakes and scoring
Each quote starts at 600 points. Hints cost 50 points, wrong guesses cost 10, and finishing never drops below a 50-point floor. Correct guesses glow green and wrong ones red the instant you make them. Your best score is saved in your browser, and the win screen shows your score, mistakes and hints.
Tips for codebreakers
Single-letter words are almost always A or I. Short words are usually THE, AND, OF, TO or YOU, and apostrophes are gold: a lone letter after one is often T or S. The most common English letters are E, T, A, O and N, so frequent cipher symbols are prime suspects. Use word shapes and punctuation the way real codebreakers do, and save hints for the last stubborn letter.
