How to play Sky Lantern Voyage
Sky Lantern Voyage is a one-button flight of patience. Your paper lantern drifts toward a ridge of glowing neon mountains, and the only control you have is heat: hold to warm the air inside the lantern and climb, release to let it cool and sink. Glide through each mountain gate, scoop up the drifting stars for bonus points, and don't clip a peak — or a night raven.
The voyage gets faster and the gates get narrower the further you fly, and every bit of lift comes from a heat meter that punishes greed: fill it to the brim and your lantern overheats, locking you out of climbing until it cools. Your longest voyage is saved in your browser.
Controls
- Heat (rise): hold Space, ↑, W, the mouse button, or your finger on the canvas
- Cool (sink): release everything and let gravity work
- Start / restart: Space, or the Start button
The heat meter
The amber bar under your score is your heat. Heating fills it; doing nothing drains it. If it hits full, the lantern flashes red and overheats: you cannot climb for two and a half seconds while it vents. The trick is feathering — short pulses of heat instead of long burns — so you always have lift in reserve when a gate sits low and a raven sits high.
Tips & strategy
Fly the middle of each gap, not the edges: peaks are drawn a little wider than they look. Ravens flap in a sine wave, so time your crossing for when they swing away from your line. Grab stars only when they sit on your natural glide path — diving for one usually costs the gate right after. Late in a run, pre-heat before gates arrive so you cross them already climbing.
Scoring
Each mountain gate cleared is worth 50 points, each star 25. There is no finish line — the voyage ends on your first crash, and your best score is stored in your browser. Chase it gate by gate.
