How to play Typing Speed Test
Typing Speed Test measures how fast and accurately you type. Press Start and a stream of common English words appears; the 60-second clock starts on your first keystroke. Type each highlighted word exactly, then press Space to advance. Finished words turn green; mistakes turn red. At time-up you get WPM, accuracy, and character counts — an honest benchmark and a genuinely useful finger warm-up.
Controls
Type into the input box with a physical or on-screen keyboard; press Space after each word to submit it. The timer starts on your first keystroke, so breathe before beginning. Start loads fresh words; Restart resets everything. On mobile, tap the input to summon your keyboard — swipe or tap typing both work.
Tips & strategy
Watch the next word while your hands type the current one — no pauses between words. Keep a steady rhythm instead of sprinting; bursts cause errors, and each error costs more time than speed saves. Mistyped a letter? Do not go back — finish the word and move on, because corrections wreck flow. Relax your shoulders; tension is the enemy of speed.
Scoring
Live WPM = (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed, the standard benchmark, updating with every word. Accuracy is the share of correct keystrokes. Your best WPM saves in your browser. Casual typists score 30–40 WPM; breaking 60 is well above average. Retake the test and watch all four stats climb.
